About Jeroen
Jeroen learned to fish as a small boy from his father and his grandfather, who took him along whenever they could, for whatever would bite: pike, the silver fish of the Dutch canals on a pole, and the odd carp that made his week. Those days on the water are still the best he can remember, and they are the reason fishing.info exists.
These days most evenings find him on the Bijlmerweide, the carp water behind his house in Amsterdam. His personal best is the mirror carp in the photo: 40 lb (18.3 kg).
He started fishing.info to share that passion and to help anglers get better at it. Every page is researched from the sources and written to be the answer you came for.
Background
Jeroen founded Vangstlog, a catch-logging platform he designed and built because he wanted to know why fish bite on some days and not on others. Away from the water he owns CrossFit Zeeburg, a gym in Amsterdam.
He lives in the Netherlands, which is exactly why fishing.info is built the way it is: it does not rest on one person's local water. It rests on the primary sources (state fish and wildlife agencies, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, university fisheries departments, the IGFA, manufacturer specifications), on an angler's eye for what is worth knowing, and on one wish: that whoever lands here leaves a better angler.
Areas of expertise
Role at fishing.info
Jeroen is the named author of every page on fishing.info: the species guides, the techniques, the lure and gear guides and the state pages. Each page carries a "By Jeroen Leidelmeijer" byline with its date, and the date it was last updated when it changed.
The pages are drafted with AI assistance from the research, then pass an automated review that checks the sources, the facts and that no sentence claims an experience we do not have. Jeroen reads a sample every week, and every correction is dated on the page. Read how every article is made for the full process, or write to hello@fishing.info when you find a mistake.
