The best Black Friday fishing deals are rarely the biggest numbers in the ad: they are prices at or below the lowest seen in the past year, a low often set in September or March. Black Friday 2026 falls on November 27 and Cyber Monday on November 30. The 2026 prices do not exist yet, so the tables below hold the lows from the last sales on the gear anglers actually shop for: fish finders, reels, rods and combos, coolers and sunglasses. With them you can tell a real deal from a normal sale in ten seconds; in Black Friday week the tables get this year’s prices, dated.

The Garmin LiveScope Plus bundle that was $2,600 on Black Friday 2025 sold for $2,399 on Amazon on September 15, 2026, ten weeks before Black Friday. Garmin had launched LiveScope 2 in July, and the old bundle was being cleared.

What goes on sale on Black Friday?

Electronics carry the big numbers. In Outdoor Life’s Black Friday 2025 fish-finder roundup, the headline was $1,350 off a Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 with a LiveScope Plus transducer. Lowrance’s HDS 9 PRO was $300 off at Scheels and the Elite FS 12 with TotalScan $200 off at Cabela’s. Dollar cuts of that size only happen on units that cost $1,000 or more, so a “save $1,000” banner tells you about the price tier, not the deal.

Reels, rods and combos move in smaller steps: mostly $10 to $70 off in the roundups cited here, and $100 only on reels that list near $300. Coolers and polarized sunglasses got 20 to 31 percent off, and both showed up at Bass Pro on October 1, eight weeks early.

Premium rods rarely show up. No St. Croix or Ugly Stik rod appears in any of the Black Friday or pre-Black Friday roundups in the sources below. The rod deals that do appear are store brands, combos and a few casting rods such as Shimano’s Zodias. If you want a premium bass rod, the best fishing rods list will tell you which one; the sale calendar may not help much with when.

The price to wait for: fish finders

“Regular” is the price the retailer quoted before the cut, worked out as sale price plus savings where the source gave only those two. “Real deal at” is the lowest price seen; anything above it is an ordinary sale.

Fish finder Regular Lowest seen Real deal at
Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 106sv + LiveScope Plus $2,999 (Amazon, Sep 2026) $2,399, Amazon, Sep 15, 2026; $2,600 at Black Friday 2025 $2,399 or less
Humminbird XPLORE 9 MEGA SI + MEGA Live 2 $2,899 $2,399, Sep 15, 2026; $2,599 at Bass Pro Oct 1 $2,399 or less
Lowrance HDS PRO 12 $2,999 $2,479, Amazon, Sep 15, 2026 $2,479 or less
Lowrance Elite FS 12 (Active Imaging 3-in-1) $2,349–2,499 $1,849–1,999, Bass Pro, Oct 2026 $1,849 or less
Garmin ECHOMAP UHD2 73sv $999.99 $845.99, Amazon, Nov 19, 2025 $846 or less
Humminbird Helix 7 G4 GPS $799 $649, Amazon, Sep 15, 2026 $649 or less
Garmin Striker 4 with transducer about $140 $122, Prime Day 2024 $122 or less

Two things stand out. The live-sonar bundles were cheaper in mid-September 2026 than on Black Friday 2025. And the XPLORE 9 bundle went back up by $200 between September 15 and October 1, so an early price is not a floor that holds until November.

If you are choosing between brands rather than waiting on one model, the fish finder guide sorts them by budget and boat, and the Garmin, Humminbird and Lowrance pages explain each lineup’s model names. For the units in the top three rows, forward-facing sonar explains what the live part of the bundle does.

The price to wait for: reels, rods, coolers and sunglasses

Gear Regular Lowest seen Real deal at
Penn Spinfisher VI spinning reel $189 $119, Spring Fishing Classic 2026 $119 or less
Abu Garcia Revo5 SX baitcaster $170 $127, Spring Fishing Classic 2026 about $130
Lew’s Classic Pro SLP baitcaster $91 $63, Amazon, Sep 15, 2026 $63 or less
Pflueger President spinning reel $70 $56, Spring Fishing Classic 2026 $56 or less
Shimano Zodias casting rod $289 $249, Bass Pro, Oct 1, 2026 $249 or less
Penn Battle III inshore spinning combo $159 $109, Spring Fishing Classic 2026 $109 or less
KastKing Centron Lite spinning combo $86 $64, Amazon, Sep 15, 2026 $64 or less
YETI Hopper Flip 12 soft cooler $250 $200, Bass Pro, Oct 1, 2026 $200 or less
Costa Fantail sunglasses $212 $147, Bass Pro, Oct 1, 2026 $147 or less

The pattern is the opposite of the fish finders. For reels, the lows in these sources came from Bass Pro’s Spring Fishing Classic, not from Black Friday. The Revo5 SX sold for $128 to $140 in the 2025 Classic and $127 in the 2026 one, so $130 is the number to hold out for in November. Missing Black Friday costs little on a baitcaster or a spinning reel: in these sources, March matched or beat it.

Black Friday 2025 prices for Shimano and Daiwa reels did not turn up in any roundup cited here, so neither appears in the table. The reel guide covers what each type and price step buys. For a first outfit, a rod and reel combo on sale at $60 to $110 is a low-risk Black Friday purchase.

The fishing sale calendar: better weeks than Black Friday

The sources behind the tables show five sale windows a year. Black Friday is the loudest, not always the cheapest.

  1. Late January. Prior-model clearance and ice-season electronics. Outdoor Life’s January 30, 2026 roundup had $1,100 off a Humminbird Helix 10 MEGA SI G4N and $1,100 off a Lowrance HDS PRO 10, and $899 off the same Garmin LiveScope Plus bundle.
  2. March: Bass Pro’s Spring Fishing Classic. It ran March 7 to 26 in 2025. Humminbird’s Helix 15 MEGA SI G4N was $1,200 off, about 40 percent, and the 2026 Classic took $1,200 off the 12-inch version. Reels hit their lows here.
  3. July: Prime Day. Small cuts on entry fish finders: the Striker 4 at $122 and the Helix 5 CHIRP GPS G3 at $295 in 2024.
  4. Mid-September to October: early Black Friday. Amazon deals were running by September 15, 2026, and Bass Pro posted pre-sale prices on October 1.
  5. Black Friday week. In 2025 the Bass Pro and Cabela’s sale ran through November 30, with some deals limited to November 28–30. Tackle Warehouse’s Black Friday event advertised up to $100 off rods and reels, up to $400 off fish finders, and free shipping on orders over $50.

A boat fish finder bought in January still has time to be mounted and wired before spring; one bought in November sits in a box over winter either way. If you fish through the ice, the January window has the ice kits too.

How to tell a real deal from a fake markdown

A struck-through price is only a claim. The Federal Trade Commission’s pricing guide (16 CFR 233.1) sets the test. A former price is a fair comparison only if it is “the actual, bona fide price at which the article was offered to the public on a regular basis” for “a reasonably substantial period of time.” Retailers do not always meet that, and you cannot check it from the ad. You can check these five things.

  1. Compare with the low, not the list. If a Helix 7 G4 GPS shows up at $699, that is “$100 off $799” and still $50 above the September price. Use the tables above.
  2. Compare the exact model. Humminbird sells the Helix in G4 and G4N versions, and Lowrance sells the HDS PRO with and without a transducer. A unit without a transducer cannot read a fish, so its price is not comparable with a bundle.
  3. Check the generation. LiveScope Plus bundles were cleared after LiveScope 2 launched in July 2026. That makes the old bundle a fair deal on proven gear, not a discount on the new one.
  4. Price the bundle by its parts. A $1,350 cut on a $3,950 live-sonar bundle is 34 percent. A $50 cut on a $250 cooler is 20 percent. Percent tells you more than dollars.
  5. Read the fine print on member pricing. In 2025 Bass Pro advertised up to $800 off Lowrance Elite units, or up to $939 for Club members; Johnny Morris rods and reels were 20 percent off, 33 percent for Club members. The banner number may not be your number.

If a price on your list is at or under the “real deal at” column, buy it. If it is not, the next window in the calendar is at most about four months away.

2026 Black Friday prices

This year’s prices are added here in Black Friday week, November 23–30, 2026, each with its retailer and the date it was seen. Until then, the tables above are the honest yardstick. For the gear itself rather than its price, start at the gear section.
