Ideal Temperatures for Freshwater Fish
It's clear that neither experts, scientist nor fishermen can agree on the optimium water temperature preferences for the various fish species. Every book or chart that
you read will probably have differences (some notable).
This is probably due to the fact that each has enjoyed wonderful fishing when the others (under the same conditions) did not. Also,
the variety of fish distributed over a variety of climate conditions can hardly result in a universal number. A small mouth bass in Michigan most probably has
adapted to cooler water temperatures than its Southern relatives. Nonetheless, the following chart is a good reference for general water temperature preferences.
